We pride ourselves on being the champions of patient choice, which is why we have teamed up with our local colleagues in Southampton to bring you further options for accessing NHS treatment. You can now have your hip or knee replacement surgery at our sister hospital, Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, while still attending pre and post-operative appointments here in Portsmouth.
Waiting for major hip or knee surgery can be a frustrating and painful experience. Every year we help thousands of patients regain their independence with joint replacements, so if you find that you are waiting too long at another hospital or would simply like your hip or knee replacement surgery quickly, we are here for you too. With high levels of patient satisfaction, outstanding clinical outcomes, excellent CQC results and a pristine environment, you can be rest assured that you are in safe hands.
How does it work?
All your outpatient appointments will be carried out at St Mary’s NHS Treatment Centre for your convenience, meaning you don’t have to travel to Southampton for numerous appointments. This includes:
- initial outpatient appointment
- two week post-op check-up with your consultant
- six week post-op check-up with your consultant
You only need to travel to Southampton twice; for your surgery and your ‘joint day’, where you meet the physiotherapists and the team on the ward who will look after and rehabilitate you during your brief stay.
How can I be referred?
You or your GP need to select us (St Mary’s NHS Treatment Centre) on the NHS e-Referral Service, just as with any other referral. If your referral is accepted (you can view our acceptance criteria here) we will then liaise with our colleagues in Southampton to ensure everything runs like clockwork!
